The mackerel

The mackerel is streamlined and torpedo-shaped, and it has a very distinctive blue-green color on the back with dark and wavy markings down to the lateral line. The season for fishing for mackerel takes place all year round, but the fish is at its best in the period from August to September, when it is at its fattest.

There is no official conservation period for mackerel.

Recreational fishermen
Recreational fishermen may only use mackerel nets that have a maximum assembled length of 3 x 45 meters. Alternatively, you can purchase a net that has a total length of 135 meters. For floating nets, they must have a maximum height of three meters, for bottom-set nets the height must be a maximum of 1.5 meters.
